Summer At Last

It is beautiful today, I mean freakin beautiful. Like the kind of day you just want to hang out at the park or go for a bike ride, or just sit in the sun and meditate. Awesome I think we have survived another super wet ugly rainy season. We will be better, wetter, stronger people for it I am sure.

My awesome baby did not have to take her English exams. So glad they finally realized she speaks English. Maybe they were confused and thought she was speaking Chinese or something. Not sure.

We are thinking about Thanksgiving next week and planning the menu. Roasted chickens and the works. Heading to the beach the next day is the best part of Thanksgiving this year. I have it very carefully timed so that we "have" to take a student to the beach every year on my birthday. Now isn't that convenient. I cannot think of anything I would rather be doing on my birthday, than teaching massage and going to the beach.

I love my life!

"Exams" in First Grade??????

Are you friggin kidding me? I was informed today that yesterday, today and all of next week would be exams for baby. She goes to the corner school for 5 hours a day for first grade. I always told her that it is for fun. Now I find out she will not pass her first grade class if she does not do well on her exams. Uh-oh, problem. We are going to be at the beach next Thurs. and Fri. for our sports massage classes. I tried to tell her teacher that today and she told me that baby could not miss her exam.

O.K. so I told her no problem, and in true Tica style told her we would take care of it. That meaning we would much rather apologize than ask permission! In fact I don't ask anyone's permission to take my kids anywhere! The funniest part is the exam she is going to miss when we are gone is, get this, English!

My Lips Just Hurt Really Bad

Ever had a fever blister? If not I feel very happy for you and hope you have a life free of them! They are awful, especially when your whole bottom lip and part of the top lip are covered with them. Man oh man do my lips hurt. I don't even think the beautiful weekend at the beach was worth it, and that is saying a lot for me because I love the beach.

I am seeing more and more the merits of a really big hat and a very big umbrella. Going to have to happen before my lips fall off. I have gone through five tubes of Carmex and only have a little bit of one left. I just hope I get to keep my lips for all of my life.

18 MILER DOWN

Woo hoo! Today Rebekah and I finished our second to the last long run of our training. We have a 20 miler next week and then it is taper time. Man I just love the sound of that, taper time, taper time, taper time!

It was a most beautiful day for a long run here in the mountains. We had about 75 degrees taking off and about 85 with lots of humidity by the time we got done. It was beautiful. The one problem we have had with training in the mountains is we have not had heat training.

It just does not get hot here like the beach, so that will be our biggest challenge. Not to mention the feet, chub rub, and knee. The typical aches and pains of a marathon. The bad part is we have not signed up and paid our fee. It is really expensive and we are saving our colones to sign up.

We also wanted to make sure neither one of us got injured or pregnant. I am sure you can guess who was worried about which :)

DREADS

So if anyone ever tries to tell you that dread locks don't hurt, they are soooooo lying! I think only childbirth rivals the pain, and at least you have a baby to show after that, not just fried hair. I told Micah I was going to dread my hair and leave it that way until he was free. My "rage against the machine" so to speak.
I do hope he appreciates the pain I just went through. Not to mention the fact that my hubby laughs at me everytime he looks at me. I think it would be better if he just freaked out or something, but laughing?
We are going to the beach for a couple of days and when we get back I will post pictures. By the way though if anyone is contemplating a face lift, this works pretty well. You know when you were young and mom put your ponies in too tight? Well this is the same idea, so it pulls your face nice and tight, cheap facelift in Costa Rica!

RAIN

"Rain rain go away and don't come back until May." That is the census of opinion these days here at the tail end of rainy season. The interesting thing is that once it rains the wind dies down a little and it gets a little bit warmer. For sure looking forward to the beach next week for birthday week.

I am hoping that I will hear from all of my boys next week for Thanksgiving or at least for my birthday. They tend to be a little bit forgetful this time of year.

It has rained all day for the last three days, letting up to a small drizzle once in awhile but all in all wet. Not to complain of course considering my boys are all snowed in. I will take the rain any day.

I have been scouring for tips for holiday savings and I will post some on Monday. Supposedly people are slowing down this holiday season and trying to give more "thoughtful" gifts. We shall see when it comes down to the 11th hour and they have not made any thoughtful gifts.
