As a Mormon mom I just assumed there were things I would never have to do. Like for some reason I thought my kids would be smarter than other kids and not make the same stupid mistakes and therefore I would not have to do certain things.
There are not any guarantees in this life. In other words just because you have FHE every single week, and read your scriptures every single day as a family, and pray together twice a day or more, still there are no guarantees!
Your family will still be tried, tempted and thrown to the wolves. The best news though? Jesus died for us and we can repent. When I think about that I just shake my head and know there is hope for all of us, not just wayward children, but all of us. Their mistakes are much more evident but they don't necessarily make any more than the rest of us, just more visible.
In the meantime I will be thankful for them and keep on praying!
Sorry if you were misled. I am not a "hotmom" I am a "hotmom" as in a pissed off mom. Join me on a journey from "super religious" mom to "anarchist" mom.

Safe Kids
Tonight I am thankful that all my kids are safe and sound for the moment. Yesterday I could not say that, so today I say it with joy. It is hard to believe when the kiddos are young and you can actually do something to keep them safe that one day you will not be able to do a darn thing in the world to keep them safe except to pray like crazy.
I once read in a book that mothers prayers go straight to heaven, like before all others. It has been my experience that this is true. I have had some pretty intense periods of prayer for my children. From not knowing where they are at all for days at a time, to knowing they really are in trouble.
I am reminded of a time my son just disappeared. He got angry at a party with friends and stormed out of the house. He turned up three days later at a truck stop in Chicago. He had gone out to hitch hike to Florida because it was warm there, and woke up in Chicago. He had a great friend who actually went there and picked him up. Oh yeah and he missed his sisters wedding in the meantime.
My daughter taking both kids on a 19 hr. bus trip to travel across Central America to visit their other grand parents. The bus got a flat and they got home about two thirty this morning, another good chance to hit the knees!
A son that decided to go check out a job in a really shady part of CR, being Jaco, the slimiest beach town around. He was gone for three days and returned today, safe and sound and determined that no job is worth selling your soul for!
As a mom all I can do is pray like crazy and know that my prayers are getting there faster than anyone elses!!

OUCH

My sister took a tumble and busted herself up good. She landed on her elbow and her head on the tile floor. Poor thing. The worst part was her son is here for the weekend and she is afraid she will have to stay in the hospital. She is there now with a lot of pain in her back where her stint is for her kidney stones.
I shared dinosaur chicken nuggets, gross, and now he is just playing waiting to see his mom. She had not seen him in two weeks and they were both looking forward to spending the weekend together. We kept telling her to just sit down and stop stumbling around. She is on lots of pain pills for her cancer and gets a little un-graceful at times.
For sure she is going to have a heck of a goose egg on her forehead. Her elbow looked like it had grown a golf ball under the skin. As my kids know I don't do well with gross injuries, so i just told Mom to take her in. Looks like it was just the bursae sack swelling, wow learn something everyday.
As for the head she will have a heck of a headache. Actually not as she is on soooo many pain pills we probably could have kept her home and she would not have felt a thing. The docs may have accused us of abuse when she had her appt on monday though.
Just glad I was here. When I decided to come out to work I did not really know how things would work out. "Man plans and God laughs". I could not work because I do not have as a state license. The good part is I have enough clients here in the valley to keep me busy. At least I have paid for my ticket. A free vacation is always good.
Then I thought oh good I can catch one of my sons hearings. I talked to his lawyer this morning and his hearing may be cancelled next week. Begining to look like Mom prayed me here to sister sit while she took her trip. I am going to make sure and tell her next time she decides to pray me somewhere pray a little more money into the equation.

ROLFING
I had a nice easy going Rolfing treatment today, and guess what? I feel great. I hate to admit it almost because if it was this simple why didn't I do it a few decades ago? I have suffered with low back pain since I was 15 yrs. old and if it was as simple as a few Rolf sessions I will sure be mad at myself.
I have tried chiropractics, yoga, pilates, massage, physical therapy, extreme sports, going to bed, accupuncture and of course lots of prayer. All to no avail. Sometimes it will get better for periods of time, like even months on end. But then it will flare up and this time for two years. When I was pg. and nursing, which was 15 years, I felt great. At least as far as the back was concerned it felt great.
The Rolfer only did about five adjustments on me, but the areas were definately bound up and sure felt good to do some myofascial release on them. I will keep you posted on the stickability of the work.
The other thing it could be is the fact that I am on some heavy duty pain killers for my monthly migraine. Hard to tell which is which.
We did watch a really good movie tonight. Good to me, but not to good to someone who has a problem with lots and lots of foul language.
The name of it was Gran Toreno. It was by and of course starred Clint Eastwood. I thought it had a great message and was certainly pretty powerful. Now if I watch it again without all the pain killers I may have a toatlly different opinion about it, but for now that is my story and I'm stickin with it!
