Birthday Bash

I love birthdays! I keep wondering when I will quit liking my birthdays so much, but so far for the last 48 they just keep getting better and better. I got great gifts this year, that were much needed,(except maybe the pipe, which will be awhile). The rest were much needed.

My family put together a great feast of mexican food as well as a wonderfully sinful earthquake cake. I felt like the python that ate the pig before the night was over to be sure.

The only bad part of the whole night was that my son who is 21 and should know better, beat me at scrabble! He should know that you don't beat people at their favorite game, especially on their birthday. Ah I guess I will survive. I am trying to get him to do a rematch and he refuses until next year

I guess I better explain the picture. It just happens to be the only picture taken on the big day, but was a joke. Because I have dreadlocks people always assume that I must smoke pot. I do not smoke pot! I have dreads because Micah always wanted them, can't have them so I am his proxy for the dreads. Once he is free and can get his own mine may or may not come off.

I will do a different post on the true history of dreads and why the rastafarians are actually mistaken about where and why they came about. Anyhoo as a joke one of my comedian kids decided it would be funny to buy this little pipe and give it to me on my birthday! I have to admit I was shocked and they got that on video, but this pic says it all, pretty funny!

Too Much!

Our party began Wed. of last week and finally wrapped up last night. It all began with taking cupcakes to babies school for her birthday celebration. The next day was the big shopping day. Friday night was the time to prep for the big meal on Sat. morning and do all the grocery shopping. Sat. morning was the big cooking day and cake and presents day. That night we went to a cultural activity at the church and they surprised baby with yet another cake! That night was the big sleep over with niece and finally Sun. evening her daddy came and got her and we all crashed out pretty darn early last night.

If this was just #6 I can just imagine #16! When we had all the other six kids living at home they just knew no birthday was going to be that all out. I mean they were lucky if we got the cake and candles and even some presents thrown in. We have always had a fifty dollar limit on birthdays and that really does not buy much these days. We used to have a hundred dollar limit on Christmas but have lowered it to fifty!

I am just glad to have a couple of weeks off before we celebrate "Gotcha Day".

SHOPPING TIME

I was working on my schedule today and realized that the time for shopping is quickly arriving. In Oct. we have two birthdays, Nov. we have three, then is Christmas and in Jan. we have five birthdays! That means tons of shopping for a mom that hates shopping. I mean most women talk about how much they love to shop etc. and I hate shopping.

Enter the internet. I love to shop via the internet. You don't have to try anything on, or even think about it. You just look at the picture and decide if you want to try it out. Once you get it most places offer free return shipping and you are covered.

Since moving to Costa Rica we have used online shopping exclusively for our shopping needs. We can get everything for our teenager, five year old as well as getting stuff to ship to our kids and grandkids in the States. I found this great online store Daily Deals that offers something for everyone. A great resource for those of us who love to shop online.
